چکیده

Abstract In DS-CDMA high speed wireless signal transmissions, the transmission performance degrades due to frequency selective fading. The use of frequency-domain equalization (FDE) can significantly improve the transmission performance. However, the local average received signal power slowly varies due to distance-dependent path loss and shadowing loss according to the movement of a mobile user. This local average signal power variation causes the performance degradation particularly when a user is located close to the cell edge where the received signal power is weak and the interference from other cells is strong. To improve the transmission performance, the well-known site diversity can be used in addition to FDE. In this paper, we present downlink site diversity for a cellular DS-CDMA with FDE. The DS-CDMA downlink capacity is evaluated by computer simulation and compared to the MC-CDMA downlink capacity. Keyword DS-CDMA,Frequency-domain equalization,Site diversity,Link capacity

DS-CDMA Downlink Site Diversity with Frequency-Domain Equalization and Antenna Diversity Reception

The use of frequency-domain equalization based on minimum mean square error criterion (called MMSE-FDE) can significantly improve the bit error rate (BER) performance of DS-CDMA signal transmission compared to the well-known coherent rake combining. However, in a DS-CDMA cellular system, as a mobile user moves away from a base station and approaches the cell edge, the received signal power gets...

Frequency-Domain Equalization for MC-CDMA Downlink Site Diversity and Performance Evaluation

Similar to direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA), site diversity can be applied to a multicarrier-CDMA (MCCDMA) cellular system to improve the bit error rate (BER) performance for a user with weak received signal power, thus resulting in an increased link capacity. In this paper, the downlink site diversity reception using frequency-domain equalization based on minimum mean sq...

Performance Evaluation of Multi-Rate DS-CDMA Using Frequency-Domain Equalization in a Frequency-Selective Fading Channel

Joint frequency-domain equalization (FDE) and antenna diversity combining is applied to the reception of multi-rate DS-CDMA signals to achieve the frequency diversity effect while suppressing interpath interference (IPI) resulting from the asynchronism of different propagation paths. At a receiver, fast Fourier transform (FFT) is applied for FDE and then inverse FFT (IFFT) is used to obtain a f...

Frequency-domain Equalization for Block Cdma Transmission

Frequency-domain equalization (FDE) technique may play an important role for broadband packet transmission using MCand DS-CDMA. The downlink performance is significantly improved with FDE; however, the uplink performance is limited by the multi-access interference (MAI). To remove the MAI while gaining the frequency diversity effect through the use of FDE, frequency-domain block spread CDMA can...
